Pilates in Maui – April 2-7, 2017
Join me and fellow Pilates instructor Arlene Salomon, owner of Hawaii’s Bodywork and Pilates studio, on the gorgeous island of Maui for a 6 day/5 night retreat from April 2nd – 7th, 2017.
Each day we will be offering rejuvenating outdoor sunrise and sunset classes, along with multiple workshops so expect to sweat, deepen your Pilates practice and (at the same time) relax, swim in the ocean, walk on the beach, have fun in the sun and eat really well. In addition to what is included in the retreat schedule, Arlene and I will be offering Private Sessions and Open Studio classes (additional costs apply).
Arlene will be leading workshops on touch, self massage and partner touch. LL will be leading you through goals workshops and more. April is a perfect time to re-evaluate what’s working for you so far in 2017 and what’s not. This retreat is for you, the pilates lover and your friends or partner. (Not sure if we need to say that you do or don’t need to be a teacher….)
The locale for this retreat will be centered around Arlene’s fully equipped home-studio (2 Reformers, Cadillac, Chairs & Barrels) which is basically a beach house that sits up on a bluff overlooking a popular beach park known as Charley Young Beach. The park is situated in an old neighborhood with a mixed demographic and very local feel. The beach house has a rustic, weathered, vintage vibe truly remnant of “Old Hawaii”.
Our very own personal Chef Derrick will prepare for us fresh healthy breakfasts, luncheons and 2 special dinners with entertainment- a first night Welcome Feast featuring local cuisine, followed by a Celestial Cinema Gala – an outdoor screening of archival Joe Pilates films and a final night Farewell Banquet with Hawaiian Hula Dancers!
There are beautiful, simple accommodations available on the 2nd floor above the studio as well as other oceanfront vacation rentals to choose from along the coastline to the right and left of the Pilates studio – you choose your own accommodations. We put together a variety of places to stay that are close by, ranging from luxurious 5 star hotels, oceanfront resorts, vacation rentals & condo’s with full kitchens, all the way to budget-friendly AirBNB’s. To get the most out of this retreat, book your accommodations right away because oceanfront rooms in Hawaii book up faster than you can blink an eye – even up to a year out! CLICK HERE for accommodation information.
The cost is $1500 per person, $300 of which is a non-refundable deposit to reserve your spot (unless the retreat is cancelled altogether.) The remaining payment will be due on or before 2/1/2017.
The early bird special drops the overall payment to $1350, if you make the full payment before 8/1/2016. The overall retreat spans 6 days and 5 nights, and starts on the evening of Sunday, April 2nd, 2017, leaving you a day and a half of travel on each end – so you only have to take five workdays/weekdays off.

Meet Arlene Salomon:
Arlene Salomon owner of Bodywork & Pilates Maui, Hawaii is a Pilates teacher as well as a professional from several other art & science disciplines- Tree Biologist, Massage Therapist and Visual Artist. Her experience brings a unique point of view to the art of teaching Pilates, for Arlene, trees and people are of particular interest. The body language of trees and humans are vastly different, however the similarities in relation to overall health, structural stability, and movement makes for some exciting observation. A devoted Pilates practitioner since 2002 and teaching since 2010, she received her teacher training in the full classical syllabus from Rebecca Leone’s Comprehensive Education Program. Arlene was recently one of 12 chosen teachers to participate in Vintage Pilates 2016 Graduate Program entitled “The Work”, an intense performance based program directed by Jay Grimes first generation master teacher and former student of Joe and Clara Pilates. She also studies privately with world-class instructor Sandy Shimoda and has been featured in Pilates Style Magazine. Arlene has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in N.Y.C., earned her Arborist Certification through the International Society of Arboriculture, graduated from the Maui Academy of Healing Arts and is a licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Member of Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals.
is a PMA Certified Master Pilates Instructor and has been studying and teaching Joseph Pilates Classical Method since 2005 and 2008 respectively. She also has eight years of retail management experience, and six years managing studios regionally for Equinox fitness clubs. After her very first class in Orange County, Lesley was hooked. She arranged her schedule to take Pilates classes every day. This enthusiasm moved her to Los Angeles, where Lesley completed a 600 hour Classical Pilates Teacher Training. Soon after, Lesley completed a Masters Pilates Certification from The Pilates Center in Boulder, CO, while training elite marathon runners for Nutribullet’s first Los Angeles Marathon. Her love for learning the method didn’t stop there, as she maintains the position of Lead Teacher Trainer for Equinox Pilates and has led dozens of apprentices through their program since 2012. In 2013 Lesley was voted ‘Best Pilates in Los Angeles’ by Los Angeles Magazine. She has also been featured in Pilates Style Magazine, was voted into the top 10 of Pilates Anytime “Next Pilates Instructor” competition two years in a row, and recently was admitted into “The Work,” a masters program taught by one of Joseph Pilates “Elders,” Jay Grimes. Maintaining that Pilates is a unique practice that is good for every body, Lesley tailors the method for each individual client. Her goal is to help them connect their mind to their core, creating intentional body awareness so they can move from their center, be taller and stronger than when they walked in. You can find Lesley teaching Mat Classes at Yogaworks and Equinox in Los Angeles, or instructing private clients at Westwood Pilates. She also offers online business courses for beginning to advanced Pilates instructors, studio owners and teacher trainers at her website, http://profitablepilates.com, and is excited to begin leading groups on Pilates retreats.
