When Joseph Pilates created his method it was first designed on the Mat. Yes, Pilates is now done on a whole host of special equipment but in the beginning, there was just the mat. The mat is how I fell in love with Pilates and it also is a great way for anyone to enjoy a Pilates practice without having to leave their own home or break the bank.
For almost ten years I taught public mat Pilates classes in LA. I taught elite runners on the beaches of Santa Monica, CA. I taught Pilates for children, yogis and everyone in between Santa Monica and West Hollywood several times a week. Then recently due to traveling to lead Pilates retreats around the world, I had to hang my public Pilates mat up. It was the hardest thing for me to do. I love every one of my students. But, after ten years my students were no longer just in the town of LA. They were all over the world!
As sad as it was to roll up my mat when one door has to close sometimes a barn door and a few windows open! Because now I have three awesome ways to enjoy Pilates mat with me from wherever you are. Seriously, wherever you are!
Are you ready? Grab your calendar and let’s rock out on the mat together!
Weekly: Tuesday 2 pm -Thursday 2 pm pst Join me for a new 30 min mat class for all levels. We will work the entire body in each class. Each class has a theme or intention we are diving into. Most are without props but if they have a magic circle, Thera-band, weights or ball and you find yourself prop-less no worries. Props are only a suggestion and not necessary to enjoy a great workout.
