Arlene’s: Reach! And Stay Connected
It’s impossible to work outside your natural range of motion if you’re truly working from your center and reaching your limbs from your back.
In Pilates, an extended arm or leg can only reach as far as it can stay connected to the back. In this workshop, we’ll use The Wall and various studio equipment to feel all those tactile references needed to stay long, strong and connected as we move. We’ll each find our own ‘reach’. It’s not as easy as it seems and it’s different for everyone
LL’s: A good Seat Connection
In this workshop, we will cover the importance of a good seat connection, exercises to find it, practice seeing and teaching this connection and ways to teach it! You’ve known the powerhouse is more than your abs, that your center is more than your stomach. In this workshop, you’ll be able to see, feel and teach connecting to your seat!
Meet Your Teachers
LESLEY LOGAN is a PMA Certified Pilates Teacher and has been studying and teaching Joseph Pilates Classical Method since 2005 and 2008 respectively. She also has eight years of retail management experience, and six years managing studios regionally for Equinox fitness clubs.
Hooked after her very first class in Orange County, Lesley arranged her schedule to take Pilates classes every day. This enthusiasm moved her to Los Angeles, where Lesley completed a 600 hour Classical Pilates Teacher Training.
Soon after, Lesley completed a Masters Pilates Program from The Pilates Center in Boulder, CO, while training elite marathon runners for Nutribullet’s first Los Angeles Marathon. Her love for learning the method didn’t stop there, as she became the Lead Teacher Trainer for Equinox Pilates and led dozens of apprentices through their program from 2012-2016.
In 2013 Lesley was voted ‘Best Pilates in Los Angeles’ by Los Angeles Magazine, featured in Pilates Style Magazine, can be seen on PilatesAnytime.com, and recently has completed ‘The Work,’ a masters program taught by one of Joseph Pilates ‘Elders,’ Jay Grimes.
Maintaining that Pilates is a unique practice that is right for everybody, Lesley tailors the method for each client. Her goal is to help them connect their mind to their core, creating intentional body awareness so they can move from their center, be taller and stronger than when they walked in.
You can find Lesley teaching private clients at her studio in Westwood, Los Angeles or through Skype or Facetime. She also offers online pilates classes, online business courses for beginning to advanced Pilates instructors, studio owners and teacher trainers at her website, ProfitablePilates.com, and leading groups on Pilates retreats around the world.
ARLENE SALOMON owner of Bodywork & Pilates Maui, Hawaii is a Pilates teacher as well as a professional from several other art & science disciplines- Tree Biologist, Massage Therapist and Visual Artist. Her experience brings a unique point of view to the art of teaching Pilates, for Arlene, trees, and people are of particular interest. The body language of trees and humans are vastly different, however, the similarities in relation to overall health, structural stability, and movement make for some exciting observation.
Arlene is a graduate of THE WORK, a performance-based masters program directed by Jay Grimes, one of the few remaining teachers who learned the Pilates Method directly from its inventor, Mr. Joe Pilates. Arlene has a wide-ranging clientele of all ages and fitness levels and enjoys helping people to create balance, alignment and great strength in the body.
She currently studies privately with world-class instructor Sandy Shimoda and has been featured in Pilates Style Magazine. Arlene has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in N.Y.C., earned her Arborist Certification through the International Society of Arboriculture, graduated from the Maui Academy of Healing Arts and is a licensed Massage Therapist, Member of the Hawaiian Lomilomi Association, certification candidate for Zero Balancing and Certified Member of Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals.
